Elkhart Lake

A few weekends each summer my family ventures up to Elkhart Lake, which is about forty-five minutes north of Milwaukee. We spend time on the lake, eat great food, and enjoy the shops in town.
My two favorite spots are Off the Rail and Gesserts.

Off the Rail is the local coffee shop. They serve the absolute best drinks and baked goos. My go-to order is a raspberry or chocolate chip muffin with a strawberry banana smoothie or mocha iced coffee.

Gesserts is my favorite spot after dinner or for a quick afternoon treat. They serve ice cream, vintage candy, chocolate covered everything, and other sweets. The shop used to be owned by the cutest elderly woman and nothing had changed since she first opened the store. Once she sold the shop a few summers ago, the new owners updated and renovated the interior, but kept the vintage charm.

We usually stay at The Osthoff Resort, where there are cute, young families everywhere. The beach is always packed and the drinks are fantastic {I recommend the raspberry daiquiri if you are of age}.
